Two Pupils Get Honors for School

Two grade six pupils of Balabag Elementary School excelled in the just concluded District I Cultural Tilt 2014 held at the covered court of La Carlota South Elem. School 1.

 Paul P.Atienza, 11 years old did his best in verbalizing his Binalaybay (narrative poem) piece for three minutes in the morning cultural contest. He had made it to the second place vying other 6 contestants in the district.

While Daffodil R. Ballente, another 11 year-old pupil found her way through the Pop Song singing contest by singing the original Pilipino music (OPM) entitled "Tagumpay". She also placed second in the said singing competition, surpassing the other three contestants for there are only 6 contestants.

Paul and Daffodil are the pupils in Grade VI, section Camia under the advisorship of Mrs. Mailyn M. Miguel. Miss Ma. Juvy V. Tadlan was the coach of Paul. Mrs. Miguel was the coach of Daffodil.

The Contest


The cluster I Cultural Contest 2014 is participated in by the schools under the District 1 like Ayungon ES, Balabag ES, Batuan ES, CAC Malipayon ES, CaiƱaman ES, Ferlou ES, and La Carlota South ES 1.

The contest held in the morning were Binalaybay (Poem), Composo (Songwriting and Composition), and Rhythm Band. In the afternoon were Choral Singing, Pop Song, Folk Dance, and Retro Dance.

The Program

School Principal Alejandro S. Ticao of CACMES offered the opening prayer. School Principal Mrs. Perpetua A. Morales of Ferlou ES led the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. School Principal Mrs. Ana Lee C. Bartolo of La Carlota South ES 1, the host school gave the opening remarks. Teacher Manie Tan in behalf of his school principal Horacio S. Cabuguason, Jr. presented the members of the Board of Judges. Head Teacher Carole C. Abalajon of CaiƱaman ES read the contest rules and criteria. And the school principal Gilbor Camporazo of Balabag ES gave the closing remarks.

Mr. Camporazo said in Filipino that "kahit binubuhosan ng malalakas ng ulan ang District 1 cultural contest ni Bagyong "Ompong" di pa rin natitinag ang matitinding performance ng mga contestants."

He further said, "Consummatum est. It is done. It is finished. We're done with the one-day cultural contest." "Congratulations to those who won and better luck next time to those who hadn't made it. More power to those victorious. Hope they could make it in the forthcoming Division level Cultural contest," the principal concluded.
